Origin of the breed
It is believed that the French Bulldogs, like all modern Molossians, are descended from the Molossians of Epirus and the Roman Empire. Among their "relatives" are English Bulldogs and medieval Alans.
The breed was bred in the working-class neighborhoods of Paris in the 1880s, where these dogs were initially popular with the butchers and coachmen of the Le Halles market.
Health status
French Bulldogs belong to the group of brachycephalic breeds: they have a flat muzzle and a short nose, due to the wide and flattened skull shape. These anatomical features can lead to the development of various health problems such as skin and eye health problems, breathing difficulties, and poor ability to tolerate high and low temperatures. If you want to have a pet of this breed, we recommend choosing an animal without extreme traits, buying it from a responsible breeder, and consulting your veterinarian.
